How to Feed Cat in Garden Paws
Not sure if you're saying you don't know what to feed it, or if you have the fish, but you're experiencing a bug.
You need to put the fish in the hotbar and use it on the cat, but i THINK you need to do the mission first.

What was the solution? Because I'm having the same issue. I've made a cat habitat and caught some fish, but equipping the fish doesn't allow me to feed the cat. =/
I believe it has to be just fish not small fish or angel fish etc. You might have to have the cat house already placed but that I am not sure on. You have to have the fish on the hot bar and selected. Holding the fish will make an empty heart pop up above the cat; get close to the animal and either e or f should be a feed option depending on if a harvestable item is nearby. As you feed the cat a meter will fill beside the heart each day until it is full and the heart turns red/pink. The animal then follows you to your placed pet house.

The cat is really picky and only likes the regular fish (blue, called only fish).

Okay, so I opened it up with the quest, and fed the cat for 5 days, then equipped the cat house in my hotbar - and before I could PLACE the house, the cat walked into the silhouette and I got the "tamed pop-up" and it let me name the kitty... but then he disappeared. o.O I placed the habitat behind my house, and he's nowhere to be found, not in my inventory either.

The habitat was only supposed to work once placed down, but apparently unplaced habitats were still being considered habitats and triggering the taming which caused the bug.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that. Are there any other cats to tame in the game, or was there just the one?
My cat disappeared, too. I'd fed it for 5 consecutive days, but I didn't realise I had to walk it to the habitat. So it started following me down the hill, but I left it. Now it's nowhere to be found. I've played two days after it went missing, and it's still gone. :/
I've set up my cat habitat, sold another one to the person who asked for it, and talked to someone else who gave me fish. But when I hold the fish and approach the cat, I don't see the heart and don't have an option to feed it. The cat doesn't move at all either.
I was able to tame a rabbit, although I was only able to feed one of the ones I've seen, not all of them. (The rest didn't have the heart/feed option.)
Am I still missing another quest that's coming up before I can feed the cat? Or does my cat situation sound like a bug?

I am having this same issue. I have the quest fish in my hotbar and selected, and I do not get the heart for taming.
Okay, I created a second instance and played that character to the same point, with the same result. I submitted it through Steam via a bug report, quit for a couple hours, and then began playing my original instance again. A little while later I noticed the cat was moving around, and I could interact with it! Hooray! So, for anyone else having this problem, maybe see if yours is fixed now too? (I had quit and come back to my original one several times with no change in cat behavior prior to this.)
